The twinning with the community of Laventie (ca. 5,000 inhabitants), also situated in Pas de Calais was established in 1964 by the self-administered (at that time!) community of Sümmern and was officially sealed in 1967. The relations are backed up by regular youth exchanges as well as intensive individual and family contacts between the Iserlohn township of Sümmern and the French community.
