New ground has been won with Iserlohn's "foreign politics". Since 1990 – Iserlohn has taken up contact to the Russian partner town of Nowotscherkassk (ca. 200,000 inhabitants) which lies 40 kms from Rostow am Don in the southern part of the state of Russia. Along side the traditional partner town contacts such as school and cultural exchanges the second basis of the partnerhip, is the humanitarian aid. As well as the Action Committee "Iserlohn helps Nowotscherkassk" and the "Church in the East" have already sent in several convoys loaded with medical equipment and medicine, clothing and food stuffs.
