With the change in politics in the so-called eastern block,  Iserlohn received an Hungarian partner town in 1989 Nyíregyháza with ca. 117,000 inhabitants refers to itself as a commercial town, - it is the seventh largest in Hungary. The roots of the partnership between Iserlohn and Nyíregyáza have cultural beginnings. With the implementation of artistic summer camps in both towns, the basis for the partnership was laid. Various connections, over and above cutural activities connect the citizens of both towns.
