"History at your fingertips"
The exhibition concept of the Town Museum invites you to touch history. Accommodated in one of the finest baroque buildings of Iserlohn, you can experience at first hand a variety of exciting and living descriptions of the historical development of Iserlohn. The Museum gained the award of the renowned competition „European Museum of the Year" in 1989.

Manual Wire Production
The wire production has a long tradition in Iserlohn. Besides mineral deposits, ample forest existence afforded the possibility of winning charcoal that is necessary for the process of smelting. More....
In Iserlohn it came to tumultuous scenes as workers went out onto the streets on 21 March in order to improve their social position. To alleviate the conflict the Prussian government subsidised Iserlohn's industry. More....

The basis of the Iserlohn bronze and brass articles production was formed by the calamine mine. The resident metal industry has proceed brass here since the 17th century. More....

Air raid shelter Altstadt
Approximately 60 years after the end of the second World War the Town Museum was able to take over the previous air raid shelter Altstadt for its museum padagogic work. More....
