House Letmathe, orginally built as a castle complex and existing at least, since 1473, has enjoyed a very changeable history. Initially House Letmathe existed from a north and a south wing, which was connected in the west by a door tower. In the middle stood a courtyard which was closed off to the east by a wall. In the course of over 500 years House Letmathe was frequently extended and rebuilt. Here among others lived, Jobst Edmund von Brabeck, later Fürstbischof of Hildesheim and the Politician Carl Overweg, member of the Frankfurter National Assembly. Today, awaiting you is the extensively redesigned Town Museum in House Letmathe which re-opened in 1998 and offers the following exhibition focus:

  • Agricultural implements and rural assets
  • Development and products of the Letmathe Industry
  • Letmathe transport history
